Define What’s Important to Performance

More and more I see athlete who struggle with social approval – they worry about what others think about their performance. As a coach, you want to be aware of this challenge for athletes. Some athletes will lose confidence when others give them negative comments.

You can define what your players should focus on when they perform. I call these cues performance cues. And make sure your athletes know that everyone has something unique to offer the team. Finally end practice on a high note by doing something all the players enjoy such as a scrimmage or an activity that focuses on having fun!
