Self-confidence is one of the most critical mental skills for success in sports and life. It is how strongly athletes believe in their ability to execute a physical skill or perform a task. Athletes gain confidence from many sources, including their past performances, training, and preparation. For many athletes, confidence is fragile and wavers easily depending on their performance. Too many athletes let one mistake, which is temporary, lower their self-confidence.
One of your goals as a coach is to help your athletes develop more stable levels of confidence. Help your Athletes reverse the negative effects of doubt, which is the opposite of confidence. Do this by trying to transform their doubts and worries into statements of confidence. Teach your athletes how to recognize doubts, and change it to statements of confidence.
