All young athletes experience doubt from time to time, especially after they make a mistake or perform poorly. Athletes need to understand that when they doubt their abilities, their confidence suffers. Once your athletes start to experience doubt, it can run wild in their minds.
As coaches you want to help them identify and stop this destructive process before it erodes their confidence. Help your players understand when they experience doubts, and help transform these doubts into statements of confidence. The goal is to help them change how they think in ways that allow them to feel confident and to perform well.
