Identifying Social Approval Challenges

March 14, 2011 By Patrick Cohn

You probably have a good understanding of how social approval can affect your child’s performance and well-being. But the goal is to dig down and discover the specific type of social approval your child may be craving from others. 1. Spends too much time thinking about others‘ judgments.

2. Performs tentatively and is afraid to make mistakes or take risks.

3. Appears distracted by what others are doing around them.

4. Makes comparisons to other people, which undermines his or her confidence.
